Thermoregulation knitted into the yarn
Sleepeers Air has no wires, batteries or gel pads. All the technology lies in how, and with what, each zone of the sock is knitted.
Why your feet matter for sleep
At the end of the day, your core body temperature drops naturally. It’s one of the signals your body clock uses to prepare for sleep.
Your feet and hands are the exit route for that heat. When they’re warm, blood vessels dilate and your body cools down inside more easily. That’s why it’s so hard to fall asleep with cold feet.
The problem comes hours later: a foot trapped in a thick sock keeps building up heat, and you end up sticking it out from under the covers or pulling the sock off half asleep.
PCM yarn: a microscopic regulator
PCM stands for phase change material. It’s a textile yarn with built-in wax microcapsules, each one far thinner than a hair.
- When your foot is above its balance point, the wax in the capsules melts and absorbs the excess heat.
- When your foot cools down, the wax solidifies again and releases that heat.
In Sleepeers Air, that point is calibrated at around 33 °C, the skin temperature at which your foot is warm but not sweaty. PCM technology was born in space research and is now used in sports and mountain clothing.
Three zones, one single knit
| Zone | Material | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sole, toe and heel | Yarn with PCM microcapsules and fine terry | Holds warmth when you go to bed and absorbs excess heat during the night |
| Instep | Open-knit bamboo fibre mesh | Lets excess heat escape upwards without cooling the sole |
| Ankle and cuff | Loose 1x1 rib, no elastic | Stays in place without squeezing or marking the skin |
What you won’t feel
-
No blocks or pads
The PCM is the yarn itself, not a stuck-on pad. It feels like a soft knitted sock.
-
No seams
Knitted on a continuous circular machine. The sole is smooth inside, with a fine terry that cushions without ridges.
-
No bunching at the ankle
A soft elastic transition band follows your foot as it relaxes and points forward during sleep.
Sleepeers is a sleep sock, not a medical device. If you have persistent sleep problems, circulation problems or diabetes, consult your doctor.
